Born in Belgrade in 1980, Bojan Vučković is amongst the most multi-talented chess players of today: he is the fourth person ever to attain both Over-the-Board and Solving Grandmaster titles; additionally, he is a doctoral candidate in mathematics.
Having achieved his GM title as well as national team player status by the age of 20, he has since kept his rating in the ballpark of 2600 (his highest Elo rating of 2640 was in May, 2010) while actively pursuing other areas of interest. Bojan won the open tournament in Bar (Montenegro) in 2006, became the vice-champion of Serbia in 2008, took Balkan Grand Prix in 2009 (Pleven, Bulgaria), and, as a standard member of the Serbian national team, took individual silver on Board 4 at the Euroteams in 2009 (Novi Sad, Serbia).
As a member of the Serbian multiple-gold medal-winning team, he participated in the European Problem Solving Chess Championships between 2006 and 2015; he also became European individual Problem Solving Chess Champion in 2007 (Pardubice, Czech Republic).
His mathematical career developed concurrently with his chess accomplishments; an alumnus of the prestigious Belgrade Mathematical High School “Veljko Vlahović,” he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Belgrade within the Department of Programming, and is currently working as a doctoral candidate in Informatics at the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Bojan is a co-founder of Chess Openings 24/7, and a key member of the team behind the CHOPIN subscription service. His multiple contributions have raised the bar ever higher, and his relentless determination is true inspiration to all members of the team: apart from being the author and supervisor of a substantial number of the opening lines, he is the architect of the entire classification system and developer of the “chess part“ of the program code. Chess Openings 24/7 is truly privileged to have him as one of the team.
